Hi! I’m Chester, a 4 year old Papillon/Spaniel mix, clocking in at a whopping 16 lbs. I am very quickly learning to trust again as I heal from unknown trauma and long-term back injuries. I like following my much larger foster sister around and have quickly bonded with my foster parents. I especially love (and demand) ear scratches and belly rubs – and while I’m missing most of teeth on one side, I love a good treat. I’m fully potty trained and can be left alone without a crate for many hours without accidents. I respond very, very well to treat rewards and come in from the backyard when called.
I’ll do best in a very gentle, patient home without other pets that are hyperactive or dominant, and without young children. My long-term back injury will continue to do best in homes without stairs and in low-activity environments. I can sometimes get overwhelmed and lash out, which is misunderstood as aggression, so it’s important to keep stimulation and noise to a minimum. But in the right environments, I turn into a cuddle monster and a true companion.
