If you are applying for McCallen, please indicate on your application that you have read and understand her medical needs.
McCallen, often called “Little Man” or “Little Buddy” by his foster family, is a real gem! With the most striking eyes, this guy is full of personality. He is enthusiastic and funny as he dances around excitedly at hearing the voices of his humans. Likewise, he loves playing with his siblings, and when he sees the other dogs in his foster home, his tail starts wagging and he gets so excited and happy. This lively and agile boy would love to find a home with a canine buddy. He bounces around carrying big toys and launches joyfully into his bed with them. McCallen loves standing between his foster parents’ feet and mouthing with his canine buddies from his protected spot. When he’s fully tuckered out, he loves to curl up in his bed for a nap.
McCallen has Megaesophagus, (where his esophagus does not properly carry food to the stomach) that is currently being well managed on medication, which he (somewhat) begrudgingly takes on a daily basis; he will likely need medical management for life. However, one should not mistake this malfunction for lack of normal behavior, for this guy truly lives life to the fullest.
McCallen is one of McKenna’s MC’s Lab mix and was born on 01/06/20 and raised in foster care, so he is very well socialized with people and other dogs. We anticipate McCallen will be between 40-60 lbs when fully grown.
This boy is in the developmental stage of exploring the world with his mouth and will also be teething with sharp teeth for quite some time to come. Please do not apply if you have children under age 8 or, if they are older, who will not be able to tolerate this.
