Little Mikey is 6 lbs of pure joy! He’s a 1 year old Chihuahua mix, and although his body is tiny, his heart is huge. Mikey is sweet and affectionate. He loves to play, sit on your lap and give kisses, or just bask contently in your love. He’s a great eater and is doing extremely well with potty training. Every day that Mikey has been with his foster family, he has grown more comfortable, and they see more and more of his charm.
Initially Mikey was not interested in playing with his canine foster siblings but he connected nicely and now loves to play with them. He is totally fine in his crate and is quiet through the night. This little Texas boy has not yet learned to love the cold; he needs to be encouraged to stay outside so he can finish up all he needs to do out there. It is hard to tell what his leash skills are, he might just be tentative because of the cold and he is nervous with cars, but we have no doubt that this little boy will get there soon since he is very smart.
Mikey does bark at strangers and seems to be protective of “his person” but he immediately takes to visitors if they bend down and extend a hand, jumping on them and kissing them. Mikey would do great in many homes. He does not need another dog to be happy, but because of his size a smaller dog would be better for him and a home with older children or children used to very small dogs. He is very easy not to see because he’s so small. Mikey would also be a GREAT companion dog in a quiet home of one or 2 people. Whoever adopts Mikey is about to get VERY lucky!
