Rhett is handsome and gentle 30lb, 8 month old Lab mix with a sweet disposition and a beautifully sleek coat, all black but for a tiny white strip on his chest. When he was found as a stray, he had a significant injury to his eye and it could not be saved. Removing the eye was curative, he handled the surgery beautifully, and Rhett is living life happily as a one-eyed boy. Although he may fill out a little bit, we don’t think he will get much bigger than 35 to 40 pounds.
Rhett is an affectionate and sensitive boy who can be a little shy at first, but once comfortable he will be your enthusiastic shadow, tail constantly wagging with joy. He is already learning to come when he’s called, sit, and give his paw and he also happens to be a great communicator when it comes to potty training. He does very well on a schedule, and will go to the door and signal with a sound that he needs to go outside. Due to his initial shyness, Rhett would do best in a home with children 12+. He enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs, and has been polite with the cats he has met.
He is a medium energy level boy; he loves running around in the yard but equally loves down time in his crate. Rhett is a collector- he will trot around the house and bring his toys and treats back to his crate. In his foster home he enjoys being with the teenaged children, and has a particular fondness for belly rubs and snuggle time.
This sweet southern boy is hoping to find forever home where there will be belly rubs and toys and TLC for life.
